Update: I’m very sorry, I was in a rush and read the offer wrong. There is no $500 for the referred person. Please don’t open and fund. If I end up getting a $500 reward for referring you, I will send you the $500. However, I don’t have a way of tracking this, so please contact me now if you opened an account with my referral code and have already funded. My recommendation is to not fund – especially due to the long 6-month holding period.
TastyTrade brokerage is offering a $500 double referral offer. However, it is only for the referring person, not the referred.
Unfortunately, unless they changed their policy, TT bonuses are only a one-and-done deal. They won’t allow customers to take advantage of more than one offer per lifetime.
Verify if you like, as their customer is quick to respond to emails.
Jonathan,
For this referral promo, you as the referrer receive $500 and the new customer receives nothing. Please edit the post to reflect this!

You make it seem as though the one opening the account gets the bonus. From my read of the terms it sounds like only the referrer get its.

My reading is that the bonus goes to the referrer not referee, no?

I just used your referral link. Let’s see how strict they are with their one-and-done policy. I got a $500 bonus from them back in 2021 and closed my account in that year. I was able to log in today with my old user name and PW. Waiting to hear if they let me back in. Will keep you posted. Hope they do. It’s a mighty easy $500.

Yup, I went back and realized the same error. No problem. I haven’t yet been accepted and so haven’t yet funded. So no big deal.
Yes. Please keep us posted. Hope it works.
I’m not seeing mention of a bonus for the new member, it only says $500 for the referrer. Where do you see that?

🤦
Damn, Just created the account, but didn’t fund it.
Phew!
Don’t worry, we still love you.
I opened a TastyTrade account based on your post (actually, based on the email copy of your post since I enabled that feature) and initiated a link to an external account to fund it. Fortunately, the need to verify two small deposits, which takes a couple of days, saved me from actually funding it. Then I received a followup email from TT showing the actual bonuses offered:
Bonus Amount Funding Amount
$50 For a deposit of $2,000 – $4,999
$100 For a deposit of $5,000 – $24,999
$500 For a deposit of $25,000 – $99,999
$2,000 For a deposit of $100,000 – $249,999
$3,000 For a deposit of $250,000 – $499,999
$4,000 For a deposit of $500,000 – $999,999
$5,000 For a deposit of $1,000,000+
Thats when I realized something was wrong. I immediately browsed to my moneyblog.com and found your mea culpa. But I never received an email containing a copy of it.
Pretty careless, Jonathan. Please be more careful in the future. Is the Trump ethos creeping into every corner of our society?
Talking about careless, who opened an account without reading the terms of the offer?
You have a point.
Now get back to your tiresome online trolling.
@Tim Hebb: ultimately, you’re responsible for your actions, not Jonathan.
Of course I am.
Just as you are responsible for your pointless snarky attitude.
Get a life.
@Tim – I apologize for the error and any inconvenience that it caused. I did send out a correction e-mail the same day to all Feedblitz subscriptions (box with green border at top right of home page) with the email subject “Re: Important Correction to Earlier Post re: TastyTrade”. If you are one of subscribers that use the WordPress system (the notify box at the bottom of the comments), I apologize but that is an automated, free WordPress feature that doesn’t send out a follow-up post if I make edits and does not support manual e-mail blasts. I recommend subscribing to the Feedblitz e-mail list for the best experience.
Thank you for following up personally, Jonathan.
First, I apologize for the unnecessary sniping in my last remark – that was totally gratuitous and, frankly, a bit malicious. You didn’t deserve it.
I was letting off misdirected steam because MyMoneyBlog has for so many years been such an incredibly helpful source of financial guidance, advice and, of course, tips such as the TastyTrade referral. I have grown so accustomed to your reliable vetting of information, accuracy and good judgment that it threw me seriously off when, for the first time in my experience, there was a minor lapse. The correction you posted made it clear how much you regretted the error, and I’m certain going forward you will go to extra lengths to try to make sure you avoid any recurrence. As another reader stated in reply to my post, ultimately I am the one responsible for not independently verifying the terms of the offer before opening a new account. In any case, no harm was done and nothing was lost other than a few minutes of my time. In the future, I will take a little more care to confirm any actionable information in MyMoneyBlog (or anywhere else) — and I’m sure you will do the same.
My apologies again, and best wishes!
@Tim, I expect an apology too. If you have the nerve to attack others that have just commented on your posts b/c you are either so defensive or insecure then that’s just simply pathetic. Attack, apologize, and think that makes it all better. Learn how to control your behavior in the first place.
B,
I scrolled up and looked at your initial comment. It was innocuous so I agree with you that Tim owes you an apology for writing the following as it was quite mean and unfair.
“Just as you are responsible for your pointless snarky attitude.
Get a life.”
You don’t understand how childish your behavior is Tim. Having to come on here and first attack Jonathan because of your error. Looking for someone else to blame because you can’t be accountable for your actions. That is so childish and then apologizing after the damage was already done as you can’t control your own behaviors and reactions. I feel sorry for you.
Why would I apologize to a smug self-righteous jackass? LOL Keep holding your breath..
Tim,
I am sure that you and I were not the only ones that didn’t receive the follow-up email. Now others will know to sign up through FeedBlitz also so they will receive future emails.
Jonathan,
Would you consider making a post about the benefits of signing up through Feedblitz? I would bet that a good amount of readers didn’t know about that and didn’t receive your follow-up email. In fact, some might be currently working on the TT bonus and have no idea that your initial post had incorrect info in it because they didn’t receive the follow-up email.
Jonathan,
I also didn’t receive the follow-up email so like Tim, I must only be signed up through WordPress. However, I believe that I was the 1st person to alert you about your mistake and you replied to my comment so I knew about the correction.
If I add my email address under “Get Daily Updates via E-Mail”, I will receive future email corrections, correct?
BTW, I give you a lot of credit for offering to give others $500 if they signed up due to your mistake and end up completing the bonus. Not a lot of people would do that.
Like others, I believe that it is always the reader’s responsibility to read the terms fully before signing up for any offer. That being said, I like it when people are willing to admit their mistakes.
I’m always struck at how people act so differently online than if talking face to face. I always try to remember that when typing things online and try to treat the situation like they are physically in front of me at the grocery store or something and part of my community (aka, I’ll see them again).
I am closing the comments. Please contact me directly if you have more questions regarding my blunder in reading comprehension. I understand if folks are mad about it. I’m also thankful for all the grace that I have received. 🙏
