The Amazon Dash Wand With Alexa lets you talk to the Alexa voice assistant and do Alexa-type things like ask the weather or order stuff (though it doesn’t play music), or you can scan physical barcodes with it. It costs $20 but comes with a $20 promotional credit after you make your first purchase with your Amazon Dash Wand with your Amazon Prime account. Details here. Promotional credit only applies to products sold by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services.
You may not have (or necessarily want) an always-listening Amazon Echo, so it’s good to have a cheap alternative. I use mine all the time to buy Add-On items immediately without the minimum purchase requirement and also get access to Alexa-only deals.
Are you sure this will get you access to Alexa-only deals?
Specifically, per the T&C at https://www.amazon.com/alexa-voice-shopping/b?ie=UTF8&node=14552177011
“Alexa Deals Terms and Conditions
Offers only apply to products purchased from Amazon.com using Alexa voice shopping on an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet device.”
Thank you so much!
My opinion would be that page simply hasn’t been updated yet. Only recently did Fire Tablets get added. My reason for thinking this is that on the Amazon Dash Wand page it says
“Just press the button and say:
“How many teaspoons in a tablespoon?”
“How many calories are there in Greek yogurt?”
“Alexa, ask Pizza Hut to place an order.”
“Ask Allrecipes for a shrimp recipe.”
“Reorder double A batteries.”
“Alexa, what are your deals?”
These available skills would suggest that this is “full Alexa” and the last one would suggest access to the Alexa deals.
It comes up with a price of $20, not $7.64.
ie. the price negates the discount.
Looks like they raised the price back up. Now you get just get a “free” Dash wand, which was the initial promotion when it first came out. Still not bad, I’m quite happy with mine.
