American Express is temporarily offering a peek at your Experian PLUS credit score. This is Experian’s own proprietary credit score, but is the best you can get from Experian since you can no longer get your FICO Score based on your Experian credit report. (Only Equifax and Transunion.) PLUS has a range of 330-830 as opposed to the FICO range of 300-850.

You can either try this link or log in and look for “View your complimentary Credit Score & Report now.” under Card Options. It is free, and appears to be promoting their CreditSecure paid product. You do not need to enroll in CreditSecure to get your free score.

From their site:

How much does My Credit Score & Report cost?
My Credit Score & Report is a complimentary benefit offered exclusively to American Express Cardmembers. You pay absolutely nothing. Simply sign up to gain access to your Credit Score and Report.

How long will I be enrolled in My Credit Score & Report?
Your enrollment in My Credit Score & Report will last 30 days. After 30 days, you will no longer have access to your complimentary Credit Score and Report. If you wish to continue enjoying access to your Credit Score and Report, you may enroll in CreditSecure.

As always, you can get your free credit reports (not scores) at AnnualCreditReport.com.

  1. thanks for the tip. i still think it’s a scam how they can have such an influence on your life, but not give you the score. 🙁

  2. Thanks!

Thanks! With Chase ending the feature with Wamu cards, it’s nice to see it. I seem to be doing much better than 6 months ago. 🙂

  4. Are business Amex cards eligible?

  5. Thanks!!

  6. Thank you – Have an AMEX and didn’t know this was offered til I saw your posting! Got my Experian “PLUS” score and credit history… Very easy and no catch!

  7. hmmm… so do you just add 20 points to get your estimated FICO score?

  8. Unfortunately, this is a one-shot service — They had this promotion a few months ago too, and I took it then; trying today, they say I have to enroll to see it since my 30-day complimentary period has ended. :/

  9. Nice! Thanks!

  10. Christopher,

You can get it again after a year (if offered):

The Product will be available for 30 consecutive days from the date of enrollment. You cannot enroll more than once in a 12 month period where available. For the 30 day period, the report will remain static.
    • You may only enroll in My Credit Score & Report Product once in a 12 month period. You may renew your use of My Credit Score & Report Product no earlier than the anniversary date of your previous enrollment.

  11. Hey Pete,

Thanks for the tip — good to know it’s not a total loss then 🙂

  12. Thanks for this info, im a costco amex card member, it worked for me…my credit score was very good 🙂

  13. Just be caution. I don’t think you can really count on the PLUS score.
My Experian PLUS is 766 and I founded extremely hard to beleive when I so my FICO Equifax is only 670 a few days later.
No discrepancies between the files in the two agencies for those two days.

And I don’t think my bank is using PLUS. So check your FICO before applying for major loan.

  14. This promotion was just offered to me. I only completed one of three steps needed to receive my score yet I have still managed to receive 37 articles of junk email in less than 48 hours. This is more junk email than I received in the last year. Beware, you’ll get a lot more than just a credit score.
