(Update November 2024: Pepper has changed their referral offer to a $20 bonus after spending $200 in your first 15 days. Stack as they are still offering attractive daily flash deals up to 20% off.)

I don’t know about you, but these days I check the Pepper app first thing every morning to see the limited-time Flash Sales and to redeem all my available points that arrived from past purchases. I literally bought a new Sam’s Club membership because I can’t give up 14% off + 2% credit card cash back. Sorry Costco, but Sam’s Club even has free Drive Up. I am always looking to stock up on 14% off Amazon and 14% off Walmart/Sam’s Club gift cards. 🚚 Look to stack it with this $15 off $50 AmEx Offer. Search for “Pepper” in your AmEx app:

(10/29 Only Flash Sales (for reference): Sam’s Club 14X/142% Off (Works at Walmart too). Amazon Fresh 14X/14% Off (Works at Amazon too).

10/14 Only Flash Sales: Sam’s Club 12X/12% Off (Works at Walmart too!), Kohl’s 18X, Airbnb 14X, Stubhub 20X, IKEA 18X.). 2,000 points = $1.

10/13 Only Flash Sales: Amazon Fresh 10X/10% Off (Works at Amazon too!). Cabela’s 20X, Uber 10X, Columbia 18X, XBOX 20X. )

See new offers daily in-app with the Inbox 📩 envelope icon. Confirm the Boosts on screen before you click “Buy gift card”, as quantities may be limited. 2,000 points = $1.

Original post, updated:

Pepper continues to offer up “flash sales” that offer big discounts on gift cards from Amazon, REI, Sam’s Club, and so on. Plus you still get whatever credit card rewards from the Pepper purchase. Examples are Amazon at 12X/12% back (Amazon Fresh = Amazon), Sam’s Club (= Walmart) at 10% back, IKEA 18% back, Airbnb 14% back in the form of points. Stock up quickly when you see the sale in the app. Redeem instantly into your respective store accounts, if you wish. (Tip: The math will work out. Every 2,000 points is worth $1 in future gift cards. 10,000 points = $5, and so on. Must redeem in increments of $5.)

Here’s the current offer for new Pepper users:

  • Download the Pepper Rewards app and be sure to enter a referral code 588494 on the first screen when joining. Thanks if you use it!
  • Get $20 after spending $200 in your first 15 days. This bonus has changed from the previous offer, but still not bad astheir old double offer only applied on their standard 4X rates, while their daily flash rates are 12X to 14X.
  • You’ll also earn rewards from using your credit card for purchase. Use a 2% or better cash back rewards card, or use it to satisfy a credit card bonus spending requirement that is even better than 2%.

Pepper is an iOS and Android app that sells discounted, new gift cards in exact amounts that are delivered instantly on your phone. This lets you to wait until the moment before purchase when you already have the final purchase price (in-person or online), and then go buy a discounted gift card via the app down to the penny. The main problem with gift cards is when you don’t use up the entire balance. This helps to avoid the waste. I load my Amazon/Amazon Fresh cards into my app the moment after purchase.

Some more data points, there seems to be a $500 daily limit and a $2000 monthly limit. My BOA cc considers this an online purchase so I am also getting 5.25% (preferred rewards) back on each purchase. I recommend taking a picture of the GC immediately just in case there ever is an issue with the app. So between my wife and I we will get about $3k of mostly walmart GCs at a 15.25% discount.

  2. fails on Verify Phone Number. Error and no other info

  3. I’ve decided to use this to satisfy a credit card sign-up bonus spending hurdle. It’s nice that you can use up the rewards as you go on the next gift card.

  4. After the $100 purchase, when does the $20 referral bonus towards a future purchase post to your account?

  5. I didn’t know about limits. I bought $600 worth of cards they deactivated my account for “security reasons”.

  6. I have the Target and Amazon 5% credit cards, but what is great about this deal is that I can purchase the gift cards with my Fidelity 2% cash back card. In total, I can now earn 7% cash back after the bonus expires.

Question, I am assuming it takes 30 days to be able to withdraw? Thanks for the link!

I’ve got 5 / 2500$ in the past few days, thank you JP!

Also if you have Chase credit cards, check your “Chase offers” online. 3 of mine give 10% back at Home Depot up to $500 and it stacks according to the DOC.

  8. App has changed playing a game for mathematically challenged. It gived 100 points per $1 and 2000 points(with a lot of restrictions) can be redeemed for $1. Essentially 5% return with a lot of complexity.

    • Yeah, it’s confusing. I just remember that the standard rewards amount remains 5% back (must redeem in $5 increments).

Today (6/26), they are offering everyone 2X on Amazon, which means 10% back on Amazon gift cards. You get 5% in points now and the extra 5% on July 15th. I do a lot of shopping at Amazon and Whole Foods, so I just bought $1,000 worth.

  9. The point system is totally screwed up after they made the change to the point system. The value of the points show up as different amounts depending on if you look at it on the app when you redeem, in the app on the Total Points page, or in an email that shows your points total. As an example, my Total Points page shows that I have $61,639 worth of points!!!!

I don’t trust Pepper anymore, beginning when they started playing around with the points system. They seem to want to confuse the user so that you can’t figure out what is going on with the point system, allowing them to change it and potentially reduce the value of existing points every now and then. In their most recently announcement when they went to this new points system, I hurried and spent all my points (around $700 worth) that weekend before the change.

Now it is totally confusing, and I don’t understand what my points are worth, am I really getting $5 worth of points for $100 spend, will that $5 worth of points still be $5 in the future, or will it be $4 or $3 depending on how they play around with the points.

    • I agree, the way the points show up is messed up, but I keep track of all my purchases and I’ve been getting all the cash back. The gift card codes show up immediately (I apply them to my Amazon account right away) and the 5% in points also shows up right away (you can check by trying to make another small gift card purchase and using points but not finishing the transaction; the extra 5% or 2.5% shows up later), so even in the worst case I’m still ahead.

  10. Please don’t promote Pepper. I value your blog, but IMHO promoting Pepper is a disservice to your readers. Ever tried writing the customer service? I have, my first transaction went through but I tried a few more even with different cards and all have been declined with vague messages. I wrote customer service several times and never received a response. This is not a customer focused business and from what I have read here and elsewhere has frustrated many and wasted their time with unrealized promises.

    • I’ve had my credit card be subjected to additional fraud verification multiple times, but I view that as a good thing overall (they probably deal with a lot of stuff), and after I’ve done the Visa verification or whatever it’s gone through. I’m sorry to hear about your troubles and I agree that I would deal with them very carefully and not to expect good customer service, but I have had no problems with redeeming any of my gift cards or bonus points.

  11. Can you stack their first 15 day bonus with their flash sales, especially on AMZN cards?

  12. Is there a way to get a same day notification of when you update a post?

    • I’m afraid my e-mail service only runs once a day, but you could follow me on X/Twitter and then turn on notifications. I have another service that posts to Twitter automatically when there is a new post, usually within 5 or 10 minutes. Thanks!

For Pepper, I’d just keep checking each day in the app as I won’t post every time there is a deal and they have new stuff every day, sometimes even mid-day.

  13. 1- How often does Amazon or uber go to 10x or 14x? (since we only have 15d to get the $20CB)
2- Amazon is currently at 4x. I’m assuming that is not a good deal and to wait?
3- What is generally considered a good x? at least 10x?
4- How soon do you get the points? immediately? Meaning is it better to buy say, $50 first, then use the points to buy the next $50 GC at a reduced cost in a 2nd transaction?
    5- All GCs are eGC?

    • 1 – Recently, at least twice a week.
      2 – Yes, I’d wait
3 – I’d say at least 10X, sometimes 12X and 14X, remember Amazon Fresh = Amazon and Sams = Walmart.
4 – The bonus points are delayed. I just spend them when I get them. This party will end at some point, but it’s lasted months longer than some people predicted.
      5 – Yes

      • so uber is now at 10% off, but only at 3x points. i’m assuming they generally don’t combine % off with points? so is this offer decent, good, or great? i think you wrote that uber normally can be found for 15% off??

      • How long does it take pepper to credit us the $20 for spending $200?

Just bought (probably not the best deal if only 10% off and 3x points but wanted to make sure I got my $20 from pepper and $15 from Amex and be done with the requirements).
