Online stock brokerage firm Capital One Sharebuilder announced a few Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions this year. Please note the valid dates on the promotional codes below. I’m full of tryptophan so I’m just going to pretty much copy and paste the press release I got. Real-time trades are $6.95, automatic scheduled trades are $4.

Cyber Monday (Dec. 2 only) Custodial Account “Gift of Stock” Bonus, Promo Code GIFTSTOCK13

Happy Thanksgiving!
Since you mentioned Sharebuilder for the first time in awhile (seems that Capital One has been stingier than ING was on promos), wanted to bring this deal to your attention:
Sharebuilder has a Costco account special, where you may open a new account and received discounted commission costs ($2 automatic, $4.95 for regular trades). Must be an Executive level member. http://www.sharebuilder.com/costco
I forget exactly how it works but I would first get the best upfront bonus possible, and then add your Costco discount for the ongoing cheaper trades. That’s what I did. I’m not sure if you can just add the discount on an existing account or if you just have to open a new account. You can have multiple accounts, but just one bonus officially. So I have a few dormant accounts and would only trade on my Costco-discounted one (although I don’t really use any of them currently).
Any idea if they charge for dividend reinvestment? Schwab currently provides for free but if Sharbuilder charges every month then the amount could be huge in the long run.
Also what would be the fees to transfer out after 9 months (partial or full)?
