Various airline miles shopping portals are offering extra bonus miles for a $1 trial subscription to the Wall Street Journal (2 months). This is a handy deal because the miles are worth more than $1, you skip the WSJ paywall for a while, and you also get some fresh activity to keep your miles from expiring. Valid through 12/2/18.
- 1,200 American Airlines miles
- 900 Alaska Airlines miles
- 900 Southwest Rapid Rewards points
- 750 Delta Skymiles
- 650 United Airlines miles
The only catch is that you need to keep the subscription active for 45 days to get the miles. So don’t cancel before the 45 days, but do cancel before the 2 months is up if you don’t want it to renew at a higher rate. I would set a Calendar/Outlook/Alexa/Siri/Google Home reminder with a couple of extra alerts.
I clicked through on the American Airlines link. It’s only giving me the option for 12 weeks of print for $12 or $1 for two months of digital.
I got the same thing as Justin said above, does this start on BF and run through the 2nd? That is what I would guess since the normal deal is 2 months.
That is what is has always been, its very, very confusing/misleading but still a decent deal. If you can, use a dollar limited virtual credit card # like Citibank has as they are relentless about renewing at full price.
Thanks for the comments, I will edit and clarify the original post. The 2 months is normal I think, but the miles are more than usual. You have to keep the subscription for 45 days to get the miles, but also cancel before the 2 months is up so it doesn’t renew.
So when I check the Southwest Portal it states this “Black Friday Sale: $1 for a 12 Weeks subscription.” so it seems like tomorrow they extend it to 12 weeks.
